At Al-Andalus Experience, we aim to create insightful and memorable experiences for locals, travellers, and visitors to share and engage in.
The cultural rainbow that explains Muslim Al-Andalus is full of readings, learning and insight for us today.
We invite you to experience history through tradition and synergies, rather than a dry political and warfare account.
Learn arts and skills while realising the spiritual value in traditional arts and apprenticeship of new skills.
As locals we have trained to be of service, providing knowledgeable insight and experiences for travellers.
We aim to bridge a culture gap between the modern and traditional, European and Islamic worlds.
Al-Andalus Experience is about how we each add to today’s world, with the knowledge and support of our traditions and heritage.
Whether you are a traveller, travel professional or agent, you can take the pressure off planning flexibly with our assistance, while staying in control of your bookings, choices and options in Andalusia or Spain.
We offer travel planning and assistance to independent travellers and groups, with an option for full-time or punctual in-person guidance and assistance according to your travel style and budget.

We extend an innate privileged insight, as a first generation born from local European Muslim ‘reverts’. Close to fifteen years of trip planning and group travel experiences, make us pioneers in Muslim-friendly hospitality, promoting halal services to become a trend in Spain.
Al-Andalus Experience was founded by Ahmad Zaruq Summers in 2007 to meet the needs and interests of Muslim travellers in Andalusia and Spain in general. Born in the UK, Zaruq has grown up as a Muslim in Spain during the Spanish ‘Transition’ to democracy, since the early 80’s. Having lived in Granada, Cordoba, Madrid and Valencia regions, he was mostly raised by the ‘Costa Tropical' of Granada, by a pretty isolated sea-side.
Zaruq is innately curious and a self taught specialist in Andalusian and Islamic traditions, as well as garden landscaping. He has driven over 300K kilometers around Spain only, by himself or along side his Spanish step-father, in a pure “Don Quijote” fashion. Since 2007 he has carried out more than 1000 group tours, yet mostly in collaboration as a guide for other simple or multiple company partnerships, as the main onboard travel assisting guide. Currently Zaruq is doing weekly excursions into the Alpujarra region, with a local tour operating agency from Granada and also welcoming travellers in the Albaycin, for a sum-up on the rise and fall of Al-Andalus, Muslim Spain. The rest of the week Zaruq is working on our website, catalog, trip plan emails and other related aspects of Al-Andalus Experience.
“Al-Andalus Experience is quite personal for me and those who like me have grown up in Spain, born Muslim to Western ‘revert’ parents. Hereby we share to the world our innate interest, speciality and insight around the history and traditions of Al-Andalus, and how they are infused throughout Spain today.”
